Tips for a baklava everyone will love:  

  • With my baklava (and other recipes), I secretly mix different varieties of the same seasoning.  For example; try using some Siagon cinnamon with your regular cinnamon.  The Siagon cinnamon has a very sharp bite and is too much all by itself, but when you mix it with another kind of cinnamon it works very well. 

  • Try the same technique with the clove or the honey.  Use two or three different honeys... but never use a honey you don't like.  Try to find a real wild flower honey and mix it with your favorite.
  • Try a spoon of orange juice concentrate in with the lemon juice in the honey syrup.  The broader spectrum of flavors excite the palate. You will enjoy the flavors much more.

How to serve baklava at your party:

  • Try some with a glass of champagne.
  • A hot cup of cocoa by the fireplace.
  • With a fresh cup of coffee in the morning or after diner.

How to store baklava:

  • Baklava will store lightly covered at room temperature for months.  It will stay fresh and the phyllo will remain crunchy. 

 

Frosting cupcakes:

  • Add a table spoon of lemon or orange juice on sugar powder and spread on top of the chocolate cupcakes.
